Baby Fever +1,000
Kelly Kapowski’s Tiffani AMBER (Don’t drop the Amber, girl) Thiessen’s nursery for her new baby girl Harper.
And I absolutely adore the adjoining courtyard. How nice would it be to be able to get outside for just a few minutes with your baby. LOVE!

I sort of love this wallpaper. Not for every wall of one room, but an accent. Above a chair rail or bead board of one wall in a quirky little study or even a child’s room. I dunno, something attracts me to it.
I think it’s delightful.

Dear Marrakech Curtains from Anthropologie,
I’d like to put you in my imaginary bungalow. You are gorgeous in turquoise (for the imaginary nursery) and in slate (in the formal living room, perhaps). God, I love to dream about home decor. And yet, my place still looks a little but amature, like my college apartment.
I need HGTV’s Design Star (P.S. So happy they kicked off Nina!). Can one of the challenges be to bring a little bit of sophistication and whimsy to my place, while still keeping it young and fun? Anyone know how to make that happen?

THIS. This is my dream house. I’m not even sure I like the blue. And the interior colors in the kitchen and dining room are a little dark for me, but that can easily be fixed (I’m so NOT one of those rookie buyers who can’t get over paint color).
Oh little bungalow in the heart of Atlanta. How I’d love to make a life in you. Look at your flowers! Look at your porch! Look at your cute little windows and steps! Please stop being $445,000, MMkay? Thanks!

I love this. I so want to nest. My house doesn’t feel like a home. I’m itching to buy* a real home that I can make our own. Whoever “our” is. Room by room, I want to look at fabrics and paint colors and wall sconces. I want to plan for backyard barbecues with lights strung from the house. I want to make a home.
It’s sucks to want to nest so badly and not be in a place where it’s possible.
*Buying a home requires a job and, you know, money. Neither of which I have. Sigh.

I really love this space. It’s chic and stylish, but also seems livable. Not like something that’s put together for a showroom or put together to be photographed.
I really love a lot design blogs. I love getting ideas and looking at ultra modern, sometimes shabby, oftentimes over the top designed spaces. But not a lot of them seem livable. At least not to me. I need a space where I would feel comfortable lounging around, or falling asleep on the couch on a Sunday afternoon while I was watching a lame romantic comedy.
I need to feel like I could, you know, kick off my shoes and collapse there. Or eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich there. Just normal living, not showroom living.
This…I could do. And I am so into gray walls right now it’s not even funny.

What the hizzy?!?!?
Remember when I was on the hunt for a mini grill for my (currently incomplete) back yard redesign? Where were you then, Apartment Therapy? WHERE WERE YOU THEN!?!?!?!?!
I actually didn’t ever get a mini grill. Due to this and that, I actually received a full sized, hand me down grill. It may not be as cute as these, but it was free.
Free, functional and able to fit a whole bunch of meat trumps cute and pastel.

I can’t even explain what is going on in these pictures. This is a table the boy and I are “making.” It’s going…okay. It’s an old desk that we decided would be FABULOUS with some clearance Home Depot tiles. To be honest, it looks kind of crazy. I am not a designer at all. And yet, I was in charge of the design and the boy was in charge of the the technical morter/caulking/man stuff.

The boy’s back. The tattoo is serious, no? Surprisingly, I LOVE it. Its not finished yet. He’s getting the bottom finished over the next year or so. It’ll be interesting to see.

Back to the table. I actually love the mosaic glass tile we bought on the cheap. I sort of wish we’d covered the entire table in mosaic instead of mixing tiles. We got some marble squares and some ceramic tile that they cut for us in the store. In a way, the mix and match is interesting. There’s something really kooky about it and it’s definitely suitable for outdoor use. But it’s not as faux luxury/cute as I would have wanted. It’s definitely more shabby than chic. But that’s okay. For future projects I’ll know know.
And we keep going!

I love this. I mean I REALLY love this. I have something similar in my office for books, but I like the idea of using it in your kitchen or dining room. I don’t think it’s practical to put your everyday dishes and wares in the dining room because you would just end up running back and forth between the kitchen and the plates. But you could most definitely keep some pitchers and wine glasses, some cookbooks and brick-brack, nick-knack there.
These are from Pottery Barn though I’m sure you could find something similar for way less money though.
